The Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum is located at 10105 Bank Road in the town of Vashon. The building was originally a Lutheran Church built in 1907 and subsequently used as the home for Vashon Allied Arts and the Vashon Children's Centre. The Museum houses a permanent exhibit, periodic special exhibits, a History Resource Room, and an extensive archive of island photographs and other materials.

The Heritage Museum is open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00 pm.

A String of Aprons

Aprons tell stories. And Vashon Heritage Museum hopes to tell some of those stories in an exhibit, A String of Aprons, opening December 3, 2010 through February 20, 2011. Aprons of all kinds will be on display. Whether hand-made and store-bought, spanking new and well-worn, sewn as a home economics class project and bought at a Christmas bazaar, a hand-me-down from Grandmother’s kitchen and a shower gift to a bride, all the aprons in this exhibit are selections from Vashon Island homes. For more information, email apronstories@gmail.com.
